Tour Description

Departing after lunch, this tour takes you through the tree-lined streets of some of Melbourne's inner suburbs and heads south to Western Port Bay. As you travel toward Phillip Island, watch the established streets fade away into the distance as the horizon becomes dotted with rural townships and farming villages. Your first stop will be The Koala Conservation Centre, where you will learn all about Koalas and the important work being done by the Phillip Island Nature Parks in protecting the island haven for these and other special animals. One of the experienced park ranges will guide you through the tree-top boardwalks and introduce you to the koalas in their natural habitat.

Next will visit The Nobbies, the home of the largest fur seal colonies in Australia, and its views that stretch right out over the Bass Strait. This spectacular sightseeing spot contrasts the crashing of the powerful sea against the rugged south coast with long views of the horizon over the Bass Strait. You will be awed by the sight of thousands of fur seals sunbathing and looking after their young at Seal Rocks, just a kilometre and a half offshore from The Nobbies. Over 10,000 fur seals use this area to sunbathe, breed, and raise their young with stunning views across the Bass Strait. The Nobbies is also home to graceful sea birds and other marine life.

If you think baby seals and cuddly koalas are cute, wait until you get a look at the world's smallest penguins at the Penguin Parade. After visiting the tourist and information centre, you will head down to the Penguin Parade. Here, little penguins will break free from the waves to waddle onto the shore, burrowing their nests to rest their heads for the night. From viewing stations close by, you will watch these tiny penguins in the largest colony of little penguins in the world.
