Tour Description
Explore the beautiful Fitzroy Island with three and a half hours of your free time on the island. There is plenty to do on Fitzroy Island with snorkelling, kayaking, and glass bottom boat tour available from the beach hire hut, or you might choose to go bushwalking or spend your time sunbathing on the beach.
Check-in at the Reef Fleet Terminal by 10.45am and you'll be directed to board your transfer vessel which will carry you Fitzroy Island. The fast catamaran takes just 45 minutes to reach Fitzroy Island, leaving you with 2.25 hours to explore the island.
Fitzroy Island is part of the 600 continental islands of the Great Barrier Reef, which was attached to the mainland before it was separated by rising waters. Over time, a coral reef flanked the island and provided refuge to a variety of corals and fish.
If you feel like exploring the island on or in the water, you can hire snorkelling equipment at the Beach Hire hut. Here you'll also find hire equipment such as Sea Kayaks and Paddle Boards, or perhaps you'd like to join a Glass Bottom Boat Trip. The Beach Hire staff can help you with all that you need.
Don't forget, you'll have access to the Ocean Trampoline throughout the day too, so there is plenty to keep you occupied.
With Walking Tracks around the island, you can simply explore on foot if you prefer, or perhaps walk around to Nudey Beach, which oddly, isn't a nudist beach. Nudey Beach is a secluded coral sand beach, which is just a little distance away from the action, but worth the walk.
So, hop aboard for an exhilarating trip to Fitzroy Island, but don't forget your swimmers, hat, sunscreen and a towel. Afterall you'll want to take advantage of that cool water and warm sun.
